Kathy Groves

Kathryn Groves of Columbus, North Carolina is very active in the sport of para-dressage. Groves competes on two horses successfully in Grade IV competitions.
With her own Westphalian gelding, Freispruch, Kathryn had a strong 2009 season. In February 2009, the pair competed at the Zada Cup in Orlando where they scored a 64.52%. The following month, Groves and Freispruch improved their score to 67.74% at the Twice As Nice 2 Dressage at Canterbury show.
At the end of June 2009, Friespruch scored an impressive 75.16% at the NCDCTA Summer Highland Fling competition in North Carolina.
Not to be outdone by his stablemate, Calderon De LaBarca also had a successful 2009 campaign with Groves. In May 2009, they teamed up to score a 62.6% at the Cannan Ranch Individual Championship CPEDI 3*. The Hessen gelding and Kathryn scored a 69.36% at the NCDCTA Summer Highland Fling.
Groves competed both horses at the 2009 Cavalor/United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Para-Equestrian Dressage National Championships.
In 2010, Groves competed at the USEF Selection Trial/National Championship for the US Para-Equestrian Team for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games Kathryn and Friespruch placed fourth in the Freestyle, scoring 66%.
