Beatrice de Lavalette is the most critically injured survivor of the Brussels Airport terrorist bombing on March 22, 2016. She was 17 years old at the time of the attack.
A rider from the age of three, Beatrice has never given up. Five months after suffering massive internal injuries, second and third degree burns, a spinal cord injury, and the amputation of both lower legs, she was back on her beloved mare, Delegada X. Her courage and grit helped her return to school in September 2016, compete in her first para-equestrian show in April 2017, and graduate on time with her class in June 2017.
She began training with Shayna Simon Dressage at Arroyo Del Mar In January 2018. In September she joined the freshman class at the University of San Diego; she is also the recipient of a Swim With Mike Scholarship Fund award.
Bea’s sights are very clearly focused on representing the USA as a Grade II Para-equestrian at the Tokyo Paralympic Games in 2020. She participated in the AGDF CPEDI*** in Wellington, FL, January 17-20, 2019, and in the AWGDF in Temecula, CA, March 2019.
