Rancho Valencia Dressage Affaire CDI-YJ3* Features Top Dressage Olympians and Superb Entertainment

Del Mar, California-February 21, 2013- The 2013 Rancho Valencia Dressage Affaire CDI-YJ3* will once again feature many of the top dressage riders in the world. Over four days, March 7-10, equestrians will compete at the Del Mar Horse Park for multiple accolades and high performance qualifying opportunities. Riders include Guenter Seidel, Steffen Peters, Sue Blinks, Christine Traurig, Adrienne Lyle, and Kathleen Raine. The CDI jury is comprised of Linda Zang 5* (USA), Joan Macartney 4* (CAN), Jeanne McDonald 4* (USA), Carlos Lopes 4* (POR), and Bo Jena 4* (SWE). Once again the Dressage Affaire has an impressive list of sponsors including Rancho Valencia, Four Winds Farm, and Leatherdale Farms. The weekend activities will feature special awards, a “judge’s view” educational symposium, world-class freestyles, entertainment, and Wooden Horse Race/ Casino night. On Friday, March 8th after the show ends the 1st Annual Wood Horse Race and a Casino Night will commence with proceeds to benefit the United States Para-Equestrian Association. Join us March 8-10th in the Rancho Valencia Arena for an exciting interactive and live

1st Annual Wooden Horse Race and Casino Night
What: Horse Races, Casino Night, & “Around the World” Appetizers
When: Friday March 8th (end of show day)
There will be 12 horses available for purchase at check in. Trainers would make a donation for their horse of $50.00 and can decorate them to make them unique. Supplies will be available and payments collected by your Bookie/Barn Manager Lisa Vidov.
Display your horse in your barn area and solicit clients and friends to join your syndicate for a donation of $5/person. You can choose to make your investment back first or let it ride in the pot. There is no limit to the size of your syndicate. Proceeds will support the United States Para Equestrian Association.
On Friday, at the end of the show day, all horses will collect in the paddock (warm up arena) for display purposes. Then, when the bugle sounds, each trainer will parade their horse to the start gate and the race will occur down the FEI Jog lane. Winner and syndicate will get photo opportunity in the Rancho Valencia Arena with their horse and trophy presented during the Brunch on Sunday.

The Winterstern Memorial Award
This award is presented in honor of Winterstern (1990-2006); a talented FEI Horse who was cherished by his rider Evelyn Murphy. Winner is to be an Amateur rider having completed at least 2 tests at either Intermediare II or Grand Prix (freestyles not included). No entry fee required.

The Neapolitano Amour Perpetual Trophy
This Award will be given to the 2nd Level Open Champion and is donated by Alice Knox in honor of this wonderful mare. Winner is to have completed at least two tests at Second Level over the course of the show (freestyles not included). No entry fee is required.
2012 Winner – Kimberly Monk and Flair
Deja Vu Memorial Perpetual Trophy
This Award is presented in loving memory of Kim’s most talented partner Déjà vu. It will be awarded to the horse/rider combination riding at least 2 tests in the CDI or Open/AA divisions at the Prix St. Georg- es and Intermediare I level throughout the show (freestyles not included). Sponsored by Kim Keenan Stordahl. No entry fee is required.
2012 Winner – Tesse Dick and Versace
The winners for all Awards will be determined by the point system below: First Place–5 points; Second Place–4 points; Third Place–3 points; Fourth place–2 points and Fifth Place–1 point. The number of entries in each class will not impact the points.
The Winterstern Memorial Trophy, Neopolitano Amour Perpetual Trophy and the Deja Vu Memorial Trophy will be awarded on Sunday based on results from Thursday through Saturday Classes only.
