FEI World Ranked Para-Dressage Rider Katie Jackson Earns Top Accolades in 2017
Cancer Survivor. Amputee. High Performance Para-Equestrian
In the summer of 2015 the path of Katie’s my life changed dramatically when she was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of soft tissue cancer. Amputation of her right leg, above her knee, was the only option to make sure all of the cancer was gone from the area. This left Katie facing a new life with a permanent disability. Never one to back down to a challenge, she has adapted to my new life and overcome numerous challenges along the way. She is now proudly riding as a para-equestrian in her beloved sport of dressage. Katie’s current goals include representing the United States at the 2018 World Equestrian Games and 2020 Paralympic Games. With just over one year of riding and competition under her belt, she has already been a part of two Nation’s Cup events, helping to win the gold medal of Team USA at both competitions, and is currently long listed for the World Equestrian Games team. She continues to work hard every day to achieve her goals!
