Mill Spring, N.C.- September 15, 2019-The 2019 USEF Para Equestrian Dressage National Champion Award and Tryon Fall Dressage CPEDI3*, presented by Adequan®, competitionwas extremely close. Roxanne Trunnell and Dolton, owned by Flintewoode Farms LLC, earned two championship coolers for her outstanding performance in Grade I and even captured a 79.333% in the Freestyle. David Botana and Lord Locksley, owned by Margaret L. Stevens, exceptional results earned the duo both reserve champion accolades in the CPEDI3* and the national. Emma Jameson and La Cortesana, owned by Misha Marshall took home the CPEDI1* champion rosette. The
Roxanne Trunnell was elated with her double champion awards and for earning a 79.333 int he Freestyle. She noted, “Dolton was really good this weekend. He felt calm and mellow and wanted to walk in and behave. This partnership is not very old and I feel like it’s just forming. I love how consistent he always is and how he marches along in the ring. Our scores keep getting higher and higher. It’s pretty exciting. As we prepare for the winter shows in Florida we will continue to work on our geometry and accuracy in the ring.”
“It has been an amazing weekend. We worked all summer to get to this point. We have worked on improving precision and overall harmony. It really all came together this weekend. We were able to improve our balance in our turns, maintain activity, and stay constant. It is a big transition for Lord Locksley from Grand Prix Stallion to Para-Dressage partner but he is a great horse and we are finding our perfect balance together.”
Botana will also plan to head to Florida in the winter to compete at the Global Dressage Festival.
Athletes, their staff, and volunteers were impressed with the The Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC). The TIEC has aligned with U.S. Para-Dressage beginning a relationship to progress the discipline as it continues to excel internationally. Chef de’Equipe Michel Assouline and Sharon Decker helped to develop this relationship and they were on hand to present the winning athletes their accolades. U.S. Para-Dressage riders will be back in Tryon in June 2020 as the team prepares for Tokyo 2020.
