Para-Equestrian Ellie Brimmer Honored as Volunteer of the Year at the Adequan® United States Dressage Federation 50th Anniversary Convention |
Fellow Para Dressage athletes were honored with the Adequan® USDF Para Dressage Rider of the Year awards and All-Breeds Para Dressage Rider of the Year at the USDF Annual Convention in Omaha, Nebraska. McCall Wellington, Florida -December 22, 2023 – The United States Para-Equestrian Association proudly announces the awarding of the prestigious Volunteer of the Year to Ellie Brimmer by the United States Dressage Federation (USDF). Ms. Brimmer received this esteemed recognition at the Adequan® USDF 50th Anniversary Annual Convention. Ellie Brimmer has been an indispensable figure in the equestrian community, dedicating countless hours to volunteer service with the USDF. She was nominated by Adam Pollock of White Fences Equestrian Center primarily for her work as a volunteer ring steward at his shows in Loxahatchee, FL but the awarding committee also recognized her work as volunteer board member of USPEA and USEF. Her commitment to excellence and unwavering support for the organization’s mission distinguish her as an exemplary volunteer. Tina Wentz, the Interim President of USPEA, expressed, “Ellie has consistently been a fervent advocate for the dressage world. Her enduring love and dedication to the sport’s growth, particularly in Para Dressage, are truly noteworthy. For over a decade, Ellie has been a familiar presence, whether riding, volunteering, offering assistance, or avidly observing dressage and para dressage horse shows. Her close friendship with the late Hope Hand, former President of the USPEA, exemplified a shared commitment to the equestrian community.” As a para dressage rider, Ellie Brimmer has not only overcome personal challenges but has also served as a great example to many within the community. Her commitment to excellence, both in and out of the arena, reflects the true spirit of volunteerism and sportsmanship, she was also awarded the USEF Llyod Landkamer Para Dressage Sportsmanship Award in 2021. Expressing her appreciation for the award, Ellie stated, “I am truly honored to receive this recognition from USDF. Attending the annual convention and sharing this moment with my peers was wonderful I’m so glad I was able to receive my award in person but also spend time observing and participating USDFs uniquely democratic process. I love being a volunteer, it makes me a better competitor and makes me a better board member, I’m grateful that I have the opportunities to share my knowledge and give my time.” Throughout her tenure as a volunteer, Ms. Brimmer has demonstrated outstanding leadership, contributing to various initiatives such as her dedication to the United States Para-Equestrian Association as Secretary. Her ability to motivate and mobilize others within the dressage community has been instrumental in fostering a sense of camaraderie and growth. Ellie Brimmer was officially recognized and presented with the Volunteer of the Year award at the Annual Convention, which brought together members of the equestrian community, supporters, and leaders to celebrate the 50th anniversary of everyone involved in the USDF. Also presented with awards were the Para Dressage Riders of the Year. Brimmer enjoyed being alongside her friends as they were presented with their own awards. Present to receive their Adequan® USDF Para Dressage Rider of the Year awards were In Grade I, Champion Cynthia Cook and Thys W. Reserve Champion Grade IV Laura Mollich and Ciave, and Cynthia Screnci and Sir Chipoli, Champion. Laura and Ciave also received the All-Breeds Para Dressage Rider of the Year Champion award, Holsteiner Verband-North America. Other riders not present but who earned awards were Grade III Rebecca Hart and El Corona Texel, Champion, and Grade IV Para Kate Shoemaker and Solitaire 40, Champion. |
