Carlisle Academy Integrative Equine Therapy & Sports Announces Educational Opportunities and Schooling Shows with Dressage Experts Michel Assouline, Hanneke Gerritsen, and Driving Coach Scott Monroe
Lyman, ME – March 24, 2017 – Carlisle Academy Integrative Equine Therapy & Sports is
excited to announce a line-up of clinics, symposia, and schooling shows for 2017. Educators include Dressage Trainers Michel Assouline and Hanneke Gerritsen for two spring clinics, and in Driving Scott Monroe for a four-clinic series. Additional onsite schooling shows will be offered, one judged by Hanneke Gerritsen and two others by Jane Tremlett. The Academy is recognized as one of the nation’s three USEF/USPEA National Para-Equestrian Dressage Centers of Excellence as well as a Paralympic Sport Club. Carlisle Academy is located in Lyman, Maine and is a national leader in grassroots education and training for emerging and high-performance para-equestrian athletes and coaches. Their focus is in the sport development of Para-Dressage and Para-Driving. Scholarship support will be available through the Carlisle Charitable Foundation, and thanks to a grant from the Veterans Administration, all admission is free to any of these events for eligible veterans. Auditors and coaches are welcome.

BIOS of Clinicians/Judges
Hanneke Gerritsen, FEI 5* Paralympic Dressage Judge and Deputy Chair FEI Technical Committee
Hanneke began her career with horses at her father’s farm. She has bred several talented dressage horses and is a trainer and coach to many high-performance athletes in Holland. Hanneke gives clinics all over the world. As a 5* Paralympic Dressage Judge, she performs a number of executive functions in the Para-Equestrian (PE) disciplines. She currently is serving as the Deputy Chair of the FEI Technical Committee, is Chair of the FEI Compensating Aids Panel, and is a Technical Deputy at the 2017 European Championships. She was a member of the Ground Jury at the 2008 Hong Kong Paralympics, a Technical Delegate at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, and most recently the Head of the Ground Jury at the 2016 Rio Paralympics . In addition to judging international competitions worldwide, Hanneke coached the Dutch Para-Equestrian Team from 2000 to 2004. Outside of her Para-Equestrian pursuits, Hanneke is a Grand Prix judge and a selector and trainer for new dressage judges at all levels.
Michel Assouline, International Dressage/Para-Dressage Trainer
Michel is a graduate of the French National Equestrian School, home of the Cadre Noir in Saumur and gained a vast international experience in the USA, France, Germany and the United Kingdom as an international dressage rider and trainer. Michel was long-listed to represent France at the Seoul Olympics and won the French National Championships in 2000. He has also scored numerous successes at International and National level. Michel was voted in 1995 UK Dressage Trainer of the Year, and is a member of the International Dressage Trainers Club. He is also currently on the British Dressage panel of trainers eligible to judge Potential International Dressage Horse classes and officiated several times at the Championships for four, five and six-year-old horse. In 2005 Michel became the British Para-Equestrian Dressage Team Coach and has led Team GBR riders to win Team Gold medals at the 2005 European Championships, the 2007 World Championships, the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games, the 2009 European Championships, the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games, the 2011 FEI Europeans, the 2012 London Paralympic Games, the 2013 FEI Europeans, the 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games, the 2015 FEI Europeans and the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games! At the Rio Games his athletes came back with a total of four silver and seven gold medals, medaling in all their classes contested. In November 2012 Michel was awarded the UK Sports Coach Medal and inducted in the Coaching Hall of Fame at the UK Coaching Awards ceremony. Later that year at the London Olympia International he received the prestigious British Equestrian Federation Medal of Honor. At the 2016 UK Coaching awards Michel Assouline along with Carl Hester, Angela Weiss, Lisa Hopkins and Helen Burt were awarded the Mussabini Medal – a sports award recognizing Coaches of British sports people and teams, and were inducted in the UK Coaching Hall of Fame. Michel recently successfully completed the inaugural intake of UK Sport’s Elite Coaching Program.
Scott Monroe, Para-Driving Coach, Level 2 PATH Driving Instructor & USEF National Combined Driving Single Horse Champion
Scott Monroe, three-time National Combined Driving Single Horse Champion, has represented the United States three times at the USET level as well as once for Canada as a navigator. Honored with Horse of the Year (HOTY) twice as well as Reserve HOTY twice with Shadow, a stunning black Morgan, Scott brings 20 years of driving experience and training of athletes, including para-driving competitors. Scott recently coached Grade 1a Para-Driver Stephanie Putman to finish 5th internationally in the 2016 FEI World Para-Driving Championships in the Netherlands. Scott is a Combined Driving Judge and Combined Driving Technical Delegate and achieved PATH Level 2 Therapeutic Driving Instructor Certification. Scott looks forward to utilizing his skills to continue working with para-driving athletes, and combined with his Marine Corps background, has a keen interest in helping disabled veterans. With his recent move to Portland, Maine, he is available as an adjunct instructor at Carlisle Academy for able-bodied, adaptive, and para-driving clinics and lessons.
Jane Tremlett, USDF “L” Graduate, USDF Bronze & Silver Medalist, Professional Dressage Instructor
Jane joined Carlisle Academy in 2011. She is a CHA Level 3 Instructor; USDF Bronze & Silver medalist; and USDF “L” Graduate. As an accomplished dressage rider Jane divides her time between training her own two horses Lyra and Corina, teaching dressage at Carlisle Academy, and judging dressage schooling schools. Jane enjoys teaching recreational students of all ages and abilities, and her focus on technical skills allows her students to progress quickly. Jane has been involved with Carlisle’s Para-Dressage Program since the beginning and looks forward to continuing her coaching and judging involvement in the para-equestrian community.
