Wellington, FL – March 27, 2023 – Dr. Meg “Muggy” Mullin, DVM, (1960-2023) will be missed by the Para-Equestrian community. Dr. Mullin was a veterinarian for B.W. Furlong & Associates and Team Veterinarian for the Adequan® U.S. Para-Dressage Team. She traveled alongside the team at numerous venues including the Paralympic Games in 2021, in Tokyo, Japan, making lifelong friends in the para-equestrian world. In 2022, she was ringside watching her friends that became like family win multiple top medals and a team bronze at the FEI Para Dressage World Championships in Herning, Denmark. Dr. Mullins was known for her kindness, smile, and contributions to the equestrian world. USPEA has created the “Meg Mullin Memorial Grant”. The Grant, in honor of Dr. Meg Mullin, DVM, is being offered to offset the expenses of athletes’ initial CPEDI competition. Establishing this grant was a way to honor the work and kindness she practiced at each Para-Equestrian event.

Interim President of the USPEA Tina Wentz expressed, “The Meg Mullin Memorial (MMM) Grant was established in memory of the excellent work and care given by Dr. Meg “Muggy” Mullin (1960 – 2023) to all the Para Dressage horses she treated and the athletes she encouraged. Meg’s joy for life and her dedication to the care and welfare of all our Para Dressage equine partners was evident from the movement she arrived at any event rather it was the Paralympics, a CPEDI, training camp or symposium, rather it was our number one horse or a borrowed horse and the athletes first CPEDI.”

Friend and international para-dressage trainer Andrea Woodard of Woodard Dressage added, “Meg was an incredible woman and a true force to be reckoned with. She was always positive, supportive, and helpful. I first met Meg when she started as the official team vet for the para-dressage team. We quickly became good friends, and she was a fantastic vet, so she was a huge help to have with us as we traveled the world with the horses to chase medals for Team USA.”

Woodard continued, “Meg was really down to earth as a person, she was spiritual, loving, and very inclusive. You could always rely on her; no matter how busy or pressing her situation was, she would be there for you. I will forever miss her vibrant personality and beautiful smile.”

International athlete and medal winner Roxanne Trunnell added, “I was so sad to hear about Dr. Meg Mullin. She was such a fantastic lady. At the Tokyo Paralympics Meg went out of her way to make sure Dolton received the treatments he needed in order to perform his best. She was an integral part of our team. She will be missed.

Para-Dressage rider Andie Sue Roth concluded, “Even as a newer competitor to the para-equestrian CPEDIs it was easy to see what an impact Meg had on the circle of riders and horses. Being the vet for para dressage and juggling the needs of each horse on a tight schedule is a big task. Meg was always so great to be around and listened to what the riders and owners needed for their horses. She was understanding and an out-of-the-box thinker, helpful in every way. She is missed so much in the barns. Her passing is a big loss to the equestrian community.”
